Michiel van Wyk

Research Assistant

I am particularly interested in temporal filtering through cellular mechanisms and in the physiology of GPCR-opsins; however, my interests are broad and I am fascinated by various research areas. I have completed my honors degree at The University of Auckland where I studied the properties of midbrain dopaminergic neurons. I was introduced to retinal physiology during my PhD at The University of Queensland and I have pursued vision research ever since. I joined the Kleinlogel laboratory after two post-doctoral positions at the Max-Planck-Institute for Brain Research and The Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz.
